RELEASING SEPTEMBER 1, 2026

bare is a celebration of all bodies, all ethnicities, and all identities-queer and straight, and everything in between. It highlights the extraordinary places creativity can take us, especially when no one is wearing pants. A labor of love, "bare" includes 150 stunning, wondrous, exotic, and sometimes humorous photographs that explore the male body in all its grandeur and intimacy. Set against beautiful landscapes these images reveal bare bodies-sometimes boldly, sometimes quietly-through Robin's eyes. "bare" invites us to witness the male form not as something to hide, but as something to honor-with humor, grace, and curiosity. Each photograph tells a story of friendship, freedom, self-acceptance, and the quiet beauty of showing up exactly as you are. It's a book about bodies. But more than that, it's a book about being human.
Each copy of "bare" is signed and numbered. First editior copies: 500 books and 250 deluxe collector's editions.

Each deluxe edition includes an authenticity certificate, limited-edition print, and is presented in a handmade clamshell case made in Italy.

About Robin

During her 25-year career as a photojournalist, renowned photographer Robin Layton created countless memorable images and earned a place among the world’s leading photographers. By age 24, she was honored by LIFE magazine as one of the eight most talented photographers in America. In 1991, her image of a young departing soldier embracing his daughter aboard the USS John F. Kennedy was used worldwide in advertising campaigns, including those for AT&T and the United Service Organizations (USO). The photograph also appeared on the cover of LIFE magazine’s The Year in Pictures issue. Her photo story on runaway teens in downtown Seattle was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Sports enthusiasts will remember her iconic photograph of Ken Griffey Jr. from the 1995 American League playoffs, “The Smile at the Bottom of the Pile.” She has been a Nikon Ambassador since 2013.

Seattle Magazine named her one of the Most Influential People of 2020. After an award-winning career at five newspapers, including staff positions with the Virginian-Pilot and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Robin embarked on a freelance career that has taken her on assignments around the world. Along the way, she has photographed everyone from prom queens to actual kings, from people living on the streets to presidents, and from Jennifer Aniston to Oprah Winfrey.

Since 2007, she has been commissioned to create artwork for commercial buildings and private residences, including multimedia installations such as video art, custom wall coverings, and even high-quality, hand-woven rugs made in Nepal from her images.. She has also expanded the boundaries of traditional photography, combining her images and video with vintage found objects to create critically acclaimed and highly sought-after works of art.

What pictures do best is capture a moment in time. Robin’s work illuminates the life within that moment. She invites us to take a second look and discover a new view of the world around us.
